Kuortane Olympic Training Center has been an international training and coaching center for Javelin Throw since 1950. Top thrower legends such as Janis Lusis, Jorma Kinnunen, Seppo Räty, Tiina Lillak, Jan Zelezny, Aki Parviainen, Kimmo Kinnunen, Joanna Stone, Mikaela Ingberg, Heli Rantanen, Andreas Thorkildsen, Vadim Vasilevskis, Tero Pitkämäki, Antti Ruuskanen, Julius Yego and many other high-level thrower has trained and competed in Kuortane.
Kuortane OTC's olympic level indoor and outdoor training facilities, world-class know-how and appreciative culture for sports have made the center world-famous. New model javelin has been thrown 7 times over 90 meters by four different throwers in Kuortane Stadium
Kuortane is an official Accredited Training Centre of the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations), where throwers worldwide have trained. Every second year the World Javelin Conference is arranged in Kuortane in co-operation with EA (European Athletics). The practice-oriented conference is a top opportunity to update one’s latest information and ideas about all aspects of javelin throw. The presentations and demonstrations will be held by top athletes, coaches and scientists.
